Disability Attorney Lansing MI

Special Needs Trusts & Planning

At times, people with various disabilities may find that some government assistance will depend in part not only on the severity of any condition or disability with which they live, but also available resources. Because an income stream and access to medical coverage via insurance, or Medicaid or the like, can be critical, we can often help families plan around benefits, and supplement services with special needs trusts or intelligent “spend-downs” of monies that drop into a disabled person’s lap.

There are several approaches or tools available, but seldom is there a “one size fits all” solution. Anything from a MiABLE account to a special needs trust, to trips to probate court to set up a protective order, to pooled trusts, or prudent spending of money allowed under the regulations to improve the life of the person with a disability are all taken into account.
